NYC 1993: no Experimental Jet Set, lotsa trash and one bar
May 21 1993: LHR-JFK for the first time (sans Concorde)
From younger braver me stopping strangers on the Chelsea street, asking for their photo *AND* their #lifestory
Snapping and feeling immersed
I'm actually here
I am (was) braver
look close you'll see the reflection of what used to be, or is
And was
time passes at different rates for observers depending on their relative velocity or the strength of the gravitational field they are in. Duh.
And now I inhabit the workspace I looked down on from the roof of the South Tower
I sit in the sky in these shots
Literally in that empty space
It’s foggier much closer to the ground now
caused by that year after the Millenium and what came after
I work each day in that empty Spot in the sky
And gazing up at the North Tower (the first to happen)
& now
can't get over the idea of all of those people sitting in the sky
The rest of NYC in 1993 was as you’d expect:
Friendly bro delivery drivers (brave me asked them to strike a pose)
UES Puppet-loving crackpots (UES eccentrics! Who knew!)
Garbage piled up before Broken Windows [allegedly] fixed it (btw still not fixed in 2025)
Tribeca still loved Domestic-made limos
Chrome domes are gone, mullets are back
But, the Yaffe Café will be open all night (sic)
No hint of any big changes coming, not to me anyway
